Candidate for Ward 2 Councilperson

Stephen D. Wilson is a longtime resident of Hillside and a passionate believer in local solutions for local challenges. Over 20 years of experience in Higher Education has given him firsthand insight into the everyday issues that affect our residents, whether it’s navigating red tape, managing budgets, or serving underserved populations.

He’s learned how to work under pressure, build coalitions, and find practical solutions that balance competing needs. His educational background includes a B.A. in Business Finance, a Master’s degree in Organizational Leadership, and he is currently pursuing a PhD in Educational Leadership. His educational background has strengthened his ability to research, think critically, and communicate effectively. These are essential skills for a councilperson who must review policies, assess community impact, and engage constituents with honesty and clarity.

Stephen is running for Ward 2 Councilperson because he cares deeply about his community and believes that local government should reflect the voices and values of the people it serves. He has lived in Hillside for 20 years, and over that time, he has seen both the strengths and the challenges the Township, but more specifically Ward 2 faces, from infrastructure needs and public safety to affordable housing and small business support.

Stephen is not a career politician, he is a community member who listens, learns, and works hard. He will bring transparency, accountability, and real collaboration to the Council. People deserve a representative who not only hears their concerns but also takes action. Stephen is ready to be that advocate. By running, he seeks to empower others to get involved, promote inclusive decision- making, and help create practical solutions that improve everyday life for everyone in Hillside.

Stephen will lead with integrity, action and heart. Whether it’s supporting small businesses, advocating for better infrastructure, or listening to neighbors’ concerns at community meetings, Stephen will lead with integrity, action, and heart. He understands that real change starts by showing up, asking the right questions, and putting people first.
